A Year of Pocket Aces: Reflection in Photography

I started working for Pocket Aces Racing in September 2018. It’s been a full year since then, and looking back on my pictures, I’ve done a lot. I’ve experienced so many new things. I’ve been in winner’s circle pictures, paddocks I used to dream of entering, and learned enough to fill a second individual with information.

This year is well over halfway done, but I’m not slowing down. I’m working toward producing a video series, trying my hand at running a newsletter, and creating new, engaging social media content. I was sent out to find a suitable “second career” partner for PAR and now our horses will benefit from one of the best organizations in Kentucky, if not the US, when retired to the Maker’s Mark Secretariat Center. As someone who used to retrain, it does my heart so much good to know I was a small part in giving PAR runners a soft landing in retirement.

I’m always looking to move forward; finding ways to improve my photography and connect more people to the wonder that is horse racing. What used to be a hobby has turned into a medium by which I can connect to the average fan; someone who, unlike me, will not be getting up at 4am to see horses train and stay until 2pm to watch someone else race. If I can do anything for the sport in my limited capacity now, then I will.

Let’s see what the rest of 2019 will bring my way.

Onward, to a better, brighter, and more exciting tomorrow!
